A Sweltering Session on the Practice Field
Arkansas concluded its fourth fall camp workout on a sweltering afternoon in Fayetteville, with the heat index climbing just above one hundred degrees. Players wore regulation shoulder pads and knee pads, the final layer before full pads are introduced on Tuesday, while the tempo remained lively under the watchful eye of first‑year head coach Ryan Silverfield.
The defensive backs drew particular attention, a unit that includes cornerbacks Joker Johnson and Shelton Lewis, safeties Christian Harrison and Miguel Mitchell, and versatile playmaker Khmori House. Co‑defensive coordinators Deron Wilson and Eddie Hicks lauded the group as “the smartest collective” they have seen, highlighting its chemistry, football IQ and the way the players communicate on the field.
On the offensive side, the line featured center Caden Kitler, tackles Kavion Broussard and Bryant Williams, and guards Terence Roberson and Brooks Edmonson, while quarterback KJ Jackson managed only two completions to tailback Jasper Parker before encountering drops from Antonio Jordan and tight end Ty Lockwood. Braeden Fuller, however, sparked excitement with a short touchdown pass to Dai’Shaun Thomas and two early catches by Markeylin Batton.
Defensive Backs Form a Cohesive Unit
The secondary’s cohesion was evident when Khmori House intercepted a pass early in a perimeter drill and later disrupted a throw from Braeden Fuller, showcasing the playmaking instincts that earned him a spot in the group. Joker Johnson, Shelton Lewis and Christian Harrison each bring playoff experience from the 2024 season, adding a championship pedigree that coaches say elevates the entire unit.
Looking Ahead to Monday’s Session
Camp will reconvene on Monday around three p.m., when the staff plans to hold media interviews with receivers coach Larry Smith. The session will mark the first opportunity for the media to hear directly from the coaching staff about the progress of the roster as the team prepares for the upcoming season in the Southeastern Conference.
