A Fresh Start Under New Leadership
Real Central New Jersey (RCNJ) opened its 2026 summer campaign across two competitions, USL League Two and The League for Clubs, with a series of matches that have already drawn attention from local fans and national soccer followers. The team is currently based at Mercer County Community College in Hamilton, New Jersey, where its home fixtures are being played.
A major shift in the coaching staff has taken place ahead of the season. Jake Newrinski, a former professional with stints at Vancouver Whitecaps and St. Louis City, has been appointed head coach of the USL2 side. Christopher Coridon, previously an assistant at Tiffin University, now oversees the TLFC squad, while Bonniwell Graham has taken charge of the U23 team.
After an opening defeat in their TLFC debut, RCNJ responded in the USL2 arena with back‑to‑back home victories that ended 5‑1 on aggregate. The first of those wins came against PA Classics, a 4‑2 result in which Elias Betancourt, Daniil Kaban, Andrew Kitch and Ayoub Fask all found the net.
The momentum continued with a narrow 1‑0 triumph over Reading United AC. Luke Pompliano stepped up to convert the decisive penalty, securing the three points for the home side.
The schedule ahead is busy, featuring seven home games out of a total of sixteen fixtures slated for June. In the Mid‑Atlantic Division, the USL2 side sits tied for second place with six points, reflecting a competitive start to the campaign.
On the TLFC front, the team remains winless in its first two matches, the latest a 2‑1 loss to First State FC while playing a man down. Despite the early setbacks, individual performances have highlighted the squad, with six players sharing the top goal‑scorer tally of one each.
Adding to the week’s positives, Nathan Linden earned a spot on the Northeast Conference Team of the Week for the May 22nd edition, recognizing his contributions on the field.
The coming weeks will test the new coaching philosophy and the depth of the roster as RCNJ navigates a packed June calendar.
