Red Team Triumphs Over Blue Team in Floresville
The Red Team posted a 85‑75 victory over the Blue Team in the South Texas Coaches Association’s All‑Star boys basketball showcase, held on May 16 in Floresville, Texas. Coached by Robert Brooks of Floresville, the squad demonstrated depth and cohesion throughout the contest.
The roster drew talent from across the region, including Logan Pawlik and Sammy Rodriguez from Floresville, Walker Brandon and Ethan Dye from La Vernia, Antonio DeHoyos and Koy Moczygemba from Poth, and Omar Abundis from Nixon‑Smiley. Early in the game, Walker Brandon accelerated downcourt with the ball, while Ethan Dye secured a key rebound in the first half.
Antonio DeHoyos finished an unguarded layup for two points, and Koy Moczygemba added his own two‑point contribution. Logan Pawlik contributed a modest two‑point tally, and Sammy Rodriguez capped a possession with a graceful layup that sent the crowd roaring. The performance underscored the breadth of local talent on display.
The win highlighted the community’s investment in youth basketball, as families from Floresville, La Vernia, Nixon‑Smiley, and Poth gathered to support the showcase.
