The Detroit Red Wings have announced the departure of two prospects, forward Maximilian Kilpinen and goaltender Landon Miller, after failing to reach agreements by the June 1 deadline.
Kilpinen, a 2022 draft pick, spent the last season navigating Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan and Hockeyettan, posting two goals and an assist in 26 games while also appearing in three SHL contests.
Miller, who entered the organization as a 2024 draft selection, struggled to displace the starting role with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, posting a 4.07 goals‑against average and .877 save percentage over 37 games last season; his numbers improved to 2.82 GAA and .890 save percentage this year but were insufficient to secure a contract.
Roster Outlook
Their exits open space for younger talent and signal the team’s intent to prioritize players who can meet the organization’s performance benchmarks, while the Red Wings continue to evaluate additional prospects across North America and Europe.
