Season Overview
The 2026 high school baseball season in the Redding area has drawn to a close, leaving behind a slate of impressive statistics and memorable moments. Teams from Foothill, West Valley, Central Valley and several neighboring programs battled across the diamond, each contributing to a vibrant competitive landscape.
Bryton Miller of West Valley emerged as the batting average leader, posting a .435 mark that topped the league. His success was mirrored by Blake Schwerdt of Foothill, who not only led in on‑base percentage at .568 but also posted the lowest earned run average at 0.72, showcasing a rare blend of hitting and pitching excellence.
Jonathan Horst from Central Valley added his name to the record books with 32 hits and 32 RBIs, a combination that highlighted his dual threat at the plate and in clutch situations. Meanwhile, Drason Recio contributed 34 runs scored and 25 stolen bases, underscoring his speed and aggressiveness on the bases.
Colton Douglas of Foothill demonstrated power potential by hitting four home runs throughout the season, while Wayde Hutchings of Enterprise dominated the mound with 73 strikeouts, a tally that placed him atop the league in that category.
