Redwood High School’s football program is once again buzzing with anticipation as head coach Curtis Allen looks to build on a breakthrough season.
Allen’s mantra centers on relentless effort and the belief that every player can become their best self, a philosophy that has shaped the team’s culture.
A year ago the Rangers captured an undefeated East Yosemite League title, finished the regular season at 9‑3, and broke a six‑year playoff drought with a 54‑0 victory over San Luis Obispo before falling in the semifinals to Bakersfield.
Returning to the fold are standout seniors such as quarterback Nash McElree, a Visalia native who brings Texas‑sized experience, and wide receiver Jairus Brooks, who last season amassed 31 catches for 413 yards and five touchdowns.
The receiving corps also features Drayton Hall, Cash Lovenburg and Oliver Richardson, who together produced 1,097 yards and 16 scores, giving the offense a deep arsenal.
Defensively, the Rangers rely on playmakers like Landon Guenter, who recorded seven sacks in 2025, and Abram Feldstein, who tallied 58 tackles and two sacks, anchoring a unit eager to dominate the line of scrimmage.
Offensive coordinator Kenny Jackson and defensive coordinator David Clements have crafted a spread/4‑2‑5 scheme that emphasizes speed, spacing and high‑effort play, a system designed to maximize the talent on hand.
Opening Test
The season kicks off on August 21 when Redwood travels to face Dinuba at Mineral King Bowl, a matchup that will serve as the first gauge of the team’s championship aspirations.
With a disciplined approach, a roster loaded with experience and a coaching staff committed to continuous improvement, the Rangers are poised to chase not only a conference crown but also a deep run in the valley and state playoffs.
