Ohio Dominican University announced this week that Reese Leone will serve as the interim head coach of the men's basketball program, stepping into the role after Casey Kaufman stepped down following three seasons at the helm.
Kaufman's departure comes as the program celebrates a strong finish to the 2025‑26 campaign, a 19‑10 overall record and a 13‑7 mark in the Great Midwest Conference that secured a tournament berth and placed the team among the top five in school history for wins.
Leone, who has been with the program since his graduate assistantship and most recently as an assistant coach, took the opportunity to thank Athletic Director Jeff Blair and President Shonna Riedlinger for their confidence, while emphasizing his commitment to preserving the team's standards and recruiting athletes of high character.
In a statement, Leone highlighted his long‑standing involvement in practice preparation, game planning, opponent scouting and recruiting, noting that his experience also includes stints with the Midwest Basketball Club and ownership of Dr3am Skills Training.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Leone said he is excited about the program's trajectory, pointing to the recent success of three All‑Conference players and the foundation built over the past seasons as a springboard for continued growth.
