The weekend saw two separate District Majors Baseball pools deliver dramatic results, with Green Ridge and Carbondale asserting dominance in their respective matchups, while South Scranton edged out Abington White in a tightly contested game.
Sebastian Loria of Green Ridge turned in a five‑inning no‑hitter against Wayne Highlands, striking out six batters while walking only two. At the plate he added a double and drove in two runs, helping his team to a 10‑0 victory.
Loria’s effort was supported by a balanced lineup that included Zane Seizinger’s clutch double and two RBIs, as well as multi‑hit performances from Tiki Kelly and Logan Yeager. Jack Trapper contributed a triple and Anthony Donato added a double, rounding out the offensive onslaught.
Weekend Highlights
In another pool play contest, Gavin Baron of Carbondale delivered a complete‑game two‑hitter against Lakeland, throwing a shutout that paved the way for a 13‑0 win. Owen Patrone led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, while Jacoby Vaughn and Luke Zielinski each recorded a hit and two RBIs. Liam McGraw also supplied a double for the victors.
South Scranton’s Xavier Hildalgo was the offensive catalyst, launching two home runs and driving in three runs to secure a 6‑4 triumph over Abington White. Lucas Hawver contributed a solid 2.1‑inning stretch of no‑hit, shutout pitching, and reliever Tess Lewis combined a gritty performance with three walks, three strikeouts, and two RBIs despite allowing four unearned runs.
Abington’s lineup featured hits from Jack Foley, Blake Hnat, Jace Felton, Peter Adair, Preston Grebb and Ben Talarico, each of whom added an RBI to keep the game competitive.
