A Life Defined by Football
The football community in Hendersonville mourns the loss of Anthony Lake, a figure who wore many hats over a career spanning more than twenty years. From his early days as a standout quarterback to his later role as offensive coordinator, Lake was a constant presence on the sidelines and in the locker room.
Lake’s journey with the program began long before his coaching years. As a junior, he led the team to the Class AAA semifinals, winning the first three postseason games in school history and helping to lay the groundwork for future successes.
His playing career also shone on the baseball field, where he excelled under coaches Bob White and Mike Hendrix, showcasing the same competitive spirit that later defined his football endeavors.
Remembered by Friends and Colleagues
Sumner County Schools Board of Education member Wade Evans shared a heartfelt condolence on Facebook, highlighting the deep respect Lake earned across the district. Station Camp coach Chris Bain, who considered Lake a close friend and mentor, recalled their frequent meetings at a local Jimmy John’s to discuss family matters and football strategy.
Bain described Lake as someone who possessed a unique ability to make players understand and love the game, a quality that translated into lasting relationships and a legacy of mentorship that will endure in the community.
A Family Left Behind
Lake is survived by his son Chase and daughter Ashleyn, who will carry forward the values and lessons he imparted both on and off the field. Their father’s influence will continue to shape their lives and the lives of those he touched.
