A Boost for Rhode Island’s Midfield
Rhode Island FC has confirmed the loan of midfielder Eric Klein from Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution for the remainder of the 2026 season, bringing a 19‑year‑old U.S. Youth International into the Ocean State setup.
Klein arrives after a breakout year in which he amassed more than 50 professional appearances, including 11 caps for the Revolution’s first team, and earned the 2024 Revolution Academy Player of the Year honor.
Head Coach Khano Smith highlighted the signing as a key step in the club’s early‑season strategy, noting that Klein’s experience with the U‑19 side, which captured back‑to‑back MLS Next Cup titles, equips him to contribute immediately while continuing his growth under professional guidance.
The midfielder is slated to be available for Rhode Island’s forthcoming clash with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, a match that will serve as a first test of his integration into the side.
