Rhode Island FC announced on Thursday that it has reached an agreement to bring Osman Foyo to the club on a multi‑year contract, a move that bolsters the team’s attacking options ahead of the upcoming USL Championship season.
The 21‑year‑old forward joins after a stint in the English Football League Pyramid and a productive loan spell at Sutton United FC, where he contributed two goals and an assist in ten league appearances. Foyo’s early development came through the Chelsea FC youth academy, and he later featured for Norwich City FC, Ipswich Town FC and a series of lower‑division clubs before establishing himself at Chelmsford City FC, where he netted twelve goals and supplied four assists in twenty‑one matches last term.
Coach’s Vision for the New Signing
Head coach Khano Smith said the signing reflects the club’s ambition to add speed and physicality to the front line, noting that Foyo’s experience in England’s competitive lower tiers should translate well to the American game.
Born in the Netherlands, Foyo moved to England as a teenager and worked his way through the professional ranks, eventually earning a transfer to EFL League One side AFC Wimbledon in January 2025. The player is now set to undergo the necessary ITC and visa procedures before becoming eligible for selection.
The club’s sporting director praised the deal as a strategic addition that aligns with the team’s long‑term vision, emphasizing that Foyo’s versatility and work ethic will complement the existing squad.
