80 Years of Speed and Community
Richmond Raceway is turning its 80th anniversary into a celebration that reaches far beyond the track. On August 15, the venue will host the Cook Out 400 NASCAR Cup Series race, and for a limited time it is selling two tickets for just $80, a price that honors eight decades of motorsport tradition while supplies last.
The anniversary festivities also include a collaboration with the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. On June 5, the museum will present a NASCAR‑themed First Fridays event featuring stock cars, interactive activities and a special exhibit that showcases the track’s storied past.
A Pop‑Up Exhibit Honoring Racing Heritage
The exhibit, titled a pop‑up display honoring 80 years of racing tradition, will be housed in the museum’s Commonwealth Hall from June 5 through August 10. It offers visitors a chance to explore memorabilia, historic photographs and immersive displays that trace the evolution of Richmond Raceway.
Race weekend will feature the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series on August 14, leading into the premier Cup Series event on August 15. The schedule promises a full slate of on‑track action that builds toward the anniversary‑themed Cup race.
"This celebration underscores the deep-rooted history and tradition of racing in Richmond," said Lori Collier Waran, president of Richmond Raceway. "We’re thrilled to honor our past while delivering an unforgettable experience for fans."
"Racing is an integral part of Virginia’s cultural fabric," noted Jamie Bosket, president & CEO of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. "Partnering with Richmond Raceway allows us to highlight that connection in a dynamic, public way."
Looking Ahead to a Milestone Weekend
The combination of a historic ticket price, a museum partnership and a packed racing schedule positions the 80th‑anniversary weekend as a landmark event for both longtime fans and newcomers. Organizers hope the celebration will reinforce Richmond’s reputation as a cornerstone of American motorsport.
