Celebrating Eight Decades
Joey Logano, piloting for Team Penske, captured the checkered flag after leading 95 laps, edging out Chase Briscoe, who had dominated early stages with 171 laps in front.
The victory lifted Logano four spots in the points standings, nudging him into ninth place as the season progressed.
Denny Hamlin finished fourth, underscoring his consistent performance and keeping his championship aspirations alive.
The accompanying Craftsman Truck Series event, the Black’s Tire 250, fell victim to severe storms; despite Kaden Honeycutt leading 225 laps, the race was postponed.
Beyond the on‑track action, Richmond Raceway marked its 80th anniversary with a weekend of fan festivities, historic exhibitions, and appearances by former NASCAR driver B.J. Upton.
Track officials used the milestone to announce a strategic return to NASCAR’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2027, confirming that both the Cup and Xfinity divisions will race at Richmond in early September, and that the venue will serve as the decisive cutoff for the Chase and playoffs.
Adding a local flavor, seven Virginia‑born drivers — including Tristan McKee, Nick Leitz, Brenden Queen, Timothy Tyrrell, Elliott Sadler, Connor Hall and Dystany Spurlock — qualified for the Truck Series lineup, highlighting the state’s deep talent pool.
