The University of Richmond field hockey team delivered a commanding 6-0 victory over Longwood University on Saturday, pushing their season record to 3-1.
Senior forward Clara Larripa spearheaded the offense with a career‑high three‑goal hat‑trick, while teammates Male Magnano, Abril Peroni and Valen Luna Paratore contributed goals and assists, and Elen Nicholls added depth to the lineup. The Spiders fired 42 shots, 27 of which were on target, and earned 14 penalty corners, a tally that neared their season high.
Defensively, goalkeeper Amanda Cimillo made a crucial save on the only shot Longwood managed to register, and the opposition remained scoreless until the final ten minutes, when they finally registered a shot and a penalty corner.
Looking Ahead
The Spiders will host Georgetown University on September 11 and then travel to face nationally ranked University of North Carolina on September 13. Both matches are free to attend and will be streamed live on ESPN+ and atlantic10.com.
The win not only bolsters Richmond’s confidence but also sets the stage for challenging road tests against two of the nation’s top programs, promising an exciting finish to the early season.
