The University of Richmond’s women’s basketball program has announced the addition of Hanna Tjernberg, a 6‑foot‑3 forward from Luleå, Sweden, who will join the squad for the 2026‑27 season.
Standing tall at 6‑foot‑3, Tjernberg brings a blend of size and agility that Coach Alisa Kresge believes will immediately elevate the team’s defensive identity and interior presence.
A Defensive Asset with International Experience
During her recent stint in Sweden’s professional league, she logged 4.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in just 21 minutes of action, showcasing a knack for efficient scoring and rebounding while also contributing on the defensive end.
Kresge highlighted Tjernberg’s versatility, noting that her ability to guard multiple positions and disrupt opponents makes her a two‑way player poised to make an impact from day one.
Beyond club competition, Tjernberg has represented Sweden at the U16 European Championship Division B and earned a spot on the U18 Baltic Cup roster, experiences that have honed her skills on the international stage.
She capped her youth career by leading her U19 side to a Scania Championship title in 2025, a testament to her leadership and clutch performances, and she honed her game at the RIG Luleå Elite Academy before joining Exodus Europe.
