The Ellsworth Arts Gallery in Kansas will host a special exhibition this June that blends the legacy of American soccer with contemporary visual art. Centered on the career of Ricky Davis, a pioneer of modern U.S. soccer, the show will feature a curated collection of his memorabilia alongside a community‑driven art competition known as the Artist Cup.
Davis, who earned more than 30 caps for the U.S. National Team and captained both the senior side and the Olympic squad, was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2019. His influence extends beyond the pitch, having helped shape the sport’s growth across the United States over a decade of international play.
The Artist Cup: A Competition Fueled by Passion
The Artist Cup invites youth, teen, and adult creators to submit works inspired by soccer. Submissions will be judged in a bracket‑style tournament, allowing the public to vote for their favorite pieces. Fans will have two opportunities to meet Ricky Davis in person: a meet‑and‑greet session on June 20 and another on June 27. Attendees can view his memorabilia, hear anecdotes from his career, and learn about the evolution of soccer in the United States.
