Ricky Pearsall, the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, arrived in Fresno this week to run a youth football camp that quickly turned into a buzzing community event.
Held at San Joaquin Memorial High School, the camp welcomed hundreds of children between six and sixteen, all eager to learn from the NFL star and sharpen their skills on the field.
A Tradition in the Making
The initiative follows a similar event held earlier in the day at North High School in Bakersfield, a nod to the program started by Christian McCaffrey last year that has become a staple of the 49ers’ off‑season outreach.
Some campers traveled as far as Merced, about an hour’s drive away, to be part of the day’s drills and mentorship, underscoring the regional draw of the 49ers’ community work.
Pearsall, a third‑year wideout, spoke about his growing excitement for the 2026 season, noting that he is setting higher personal benchmarks and hoping to inspire the next generation of players.
Beyond the on‑field work, the camp offered a chance for young athletes to meet a 49ers star, ask questions, and take home autographs, reinforcing the team’s commitment to grassroots football development across California.
