Rita Nazario, a point guard for CSUN Women's Basketball, has added a new chapter to her growing résumé by helping Portugal's U20 national team capture the EuroBasket Division B title in Samokov, Bulgaria.
Undefeated Run in the Balkans
The tournament, which ran from July 4 to July 12, saw Portugal finish the group stage unbeaten, defeating Montenegro and Switzerland before overcoming Slovakia 73‑46 in the semifinals.
In the championship game, Portugal routed Greece 73‑48, with Nazario contributing 10 points off the bench and posting a team‑high plus‑minus of +11.
Nazario’s impact extended beyond the final, as she recorded a tournament‑best 10 points in a 92‑54 victory over the host nation and logged a three‑pointer in each of the last four games.
The performance caps a strong sophomore season in which she averaged 10.4 points per game, shot 83.3 percent from the free‑throw line and made 68 three‑pointers in 30 appearances.
Looking ahead, Nazario will enter her junior year at CSUN for the 2026‑27 campaign, aiming to translate her international experience into further growth for the Matadors.
