Robert Morris University’s men’s soccer team is gearing up for the 2026 season after a strong 2025 campaign that ended with a 3‑0‑3 unbeaten stretch at home. Head coach Jonathan Potter, who has guided the program to a 20‑17‑15 overall record, emphasizes continuity while integrating a large influx of new players.
Leadership Re‑Defined
The squad will be anchored by co‑captains Josh Lane and Miguel Dominguez. Lane, a native of Leicester, England, brings a decorated goalkeeping pedigree, having posted two postseason shutouts in 2024 and earning All‑Horizon League honors. Dominguez, from Córdoba, Mexico, made an immediate impact in his debut season and has already gained experience in the USL League Two.
Midfield stability will come from Riley Cotton, Storm Johansen and Tayshaun Reid, whose combined experience should help the team navigate a challenging schedule. Their presence also provides a platform for the 18 newcomers — nine transfers and nine freshmen — to acclimate to the program’s tempo.
A Global Recruiting Class
The incoming class features a mix of local talent from the WPIAL and international prospects. Local products Brady Eubanks, Mason Bizyak and Sam Wessel join the roster alongside overseas signings Jonah Geike, Joaquin Fazal and Alessandro Camatta. High‑profile recruits Giovanni Dennis and Anelson Azard are expected to add depth and creativity in attacking roles.
The season opener pits RMU against the Drexel Dragons, a CAA North Division side led by preseason All‑CAA midfielder Morgan Worsfold‑Gregg. This will be the first meeting in Moon Township since 1996, and the match will serve as a early test of the team’s home form.
Later in August, RMU will face Mercyhurst in another non‑conference fixture, continuing a series of regional contests that will help fine‑tune the squad before conference play begins.
With a blend of veteran leadership, proven performers in the middle of the park, and a fresh wave of talent, the 2026 Robert Morris men’s soccer team looks poised to challenge for top conference honors once again. The early schedule, highlighted by the Drexel showdown, will set the tone for what coaches and players hope will be a championship‑contending season.
