Road Rage Incident Leads to Assault Charge Against Nicholas Treadwell

A Salt Lake County driver was arrested after using a baseball bat to strike a motorist's window during a construction‑related traffic jam.

A road rage episode unfolded on a busy stretch of highway in Salt Lake County last week when a driver, later identified as Nicholas Treadwell, 42, began tailgating another motorist amid heavy traffic caused by ongoing construction.

Charges Filed

Treadwell was subsequently charged with felony aggravated assault and a misdemeanor, stemming from his aggressive behavior that escalated into a physical attack on another driver's vehicle.

Victim's Account

The victim reported that the suspect aggressively attempted to pass her in the construction zone, followed her from the I‑215 and I‑80 interchange to 700 N Redwood Road, and then exited his vehicle to strike her driver‑side window with a baseball bat, an act she believed was intended to cause serious harm.

Investigation and Arrest

Police reviewed the victim's video footage, used it to pinpoint Treadwell as the suspect, and located him at his home in West Valley City. A search warrant enabled officers to retrieve the bat from his vehicle, and Treadwell later confessed to the assault.

After the evidence was secured, Treadwell was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, where he remains pending further legal proceedings.
