North Dakota State’s men’s basketball program announced the addition of transfer guard Rob Diaz III to its 2026 roster, a move that bolsters the Bison’s backcourt as they prepare for another push toward the Summit League title.
A Transfer With a Thousand‑Point Legacy
Diaz, a 6‑foot‑2 guard from Long Beach, California, arrives after two seasons at Cal Poly Humboldt and a stint at Long Beach State, where he contributed 83 assists and posted an assist‑to‑turnover ratio of 2.5.
During his final year at Cal Poly Humboldt he led the team in scoring, averaging 16 points per game, and earned first‑team all‑conference honors, a testament to his consistent offensive production.
Across three collegiate seasons he has amassed more than 1,000 points, while also delivering a career‑high 33 points and 12 rebounds against UC Davis in March, numbers that underscore his ability to impact games in multiple ways.
NDSU coach David Richman praised the acquisition, noting Diaz’s blend of scoring, playmaking and rebounding that should complement the Bison’s aggressive style.
The Bison recently captured both the regular‑season and tournament crowns of the Summit League, securing their sixth NCAA Tournament berth since 2009, a milestone that sets high expectations for the upcoming campaign.
