Rob Fournier Takes the Helm of Omaha Mavericks Baseball

Hall of Fame coach brings 1,100 wins and a championship pedigree to the University of Nebraska at Omaha

A new chapter for Maverick baseball

Rob Fournier, a Hall of Fame coach with more than 1,100 career victories, was introduced this week as the seventh head coach of the Omaha Mavericks baseball program. The University of Nebraska at Omaha announced the appointment, highlighting Fournier’s extensive track record of championship success and player development.

Fournier’s journey includes formative years at Western Kentucky University, where he guided the team to a 112‑63 record over the past three seasons and captured the 2025 CUSA Championship. Prior to that, his tenure at Wabash Valley College was marked by 16 Great Rivers Athletic Conference titles and a 49‑game winning streak that propelled the 2019 squad to a No. 1 national ranking for eight weeks.

Beyond win totals, Fournier is celebrated for his recruiting acumen, having assembled top‑35 junior‑college classes in all but two seasons from 2015 to 2022. His players have advanced to NCAA Division I programs at a rate of 390, and 93 have signed professional contracts. The coach also brings professional scouting experience from stints with the Cleveland Guardians and the Philadelphia Phillies, as well as a role as a USA Baseball clinic speaker.

Strategic vision for the program

University officials say Fournier’s vision aligns with the Mavericks’ ambition to climb the national rankings and to become a consistent contender in the Big Sky Conference. Athletic director Joanne Li emphasized that his leadership will ‘elevate the program to new heights,’ while Marc Rardin and Kendall Rogers, among other staff members, will support the implementation of his recruiting and development strategies.
