The state championship games for high school girls flag football are set to unfold this Saturday at the AdventHealth Training Center in Tampa, drawing together the top squads from Hillsborough and Pinellas counties in a showcase of emerging talent and fierce competition.
Robinson High School enters the 2A final with a chance to extend its remarkable streak, having captured ten consecutive state titles and looking to add an 11th to its storied program after a decisive 42‑12 victory over Choctawhatchee.
Lennard High School, meanwhile, has surged through the bracket, defeating Harmony 39‑19 and pulling off an upset over the defending 4A champion Alonso to secure its spot in the finals. Senior standout Paige Halverson, one of three Lennard seniors headed to Daytona State College, will anchor the offense.
Head coach Travis Combs, who also leads the inaugural women’s flag football program at Indiana Wesleyan University, will see his protégés continue their collegiate careers at Daytona State College, a pipeline that has become central to the region’s growing flag football ecosystem.
The Florida High School Athletic Association will oversee the event, highlighting the sport’s rising popularity across the state and providing a platform for athletes who may soon shape the next generation of collegiate and professional play.
