The Robinson Rockets clinched their first Texas 4A State Baseball Championship on Friday, edging out Brock 3-1 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. The victory marked a historic milestone for the program and sent the hometown crowd into celebration.
Robinson struck first in the bottom of the first inning when a fielders choice by Helpert brought home the opening run. The early lead set the tone, but Brock answered in the fourth with a single that tied the game at 1-1.
Defensive excellence kept the Rockets ahead. Key stops from Vasquez, Armes, Coe and Cleere stifled Brock’s rallies and prevented the opposition from taking the lead.
The fifth inning brought Robinson’s first hit of the game, a bunt single by Cleere that reignited the offense. Moments later, Coe delivered a two‑run single up the middle, extending the advantage to 3-1.
