The Rockledge Raiders took the field on May 22 for a spring football scrimmage against West Orange, only to walk away with a 24‑10 defeat.
A Promising Performance
Coach John Holmes praised the team’s effort, highlighting the improvements made on both offense and defense since the end of the previous season.
The revamped offense, anchored by quarterback Robbie Blalock, showed flashes of explosiveness. Blalock completed 11 of 29 passes for 155 yards and a rushing touchdown by rising junior Antonio Amerson‑Brown.
Looking Ahead
Defensively, the Raiders limited West Orange to a single touchdown in the first three quarters, holding the higher‑classified opponent to 446 total yards of offense. Despite the loss, Blalock expressed frustration over missed opportunities but remains upbeat about the roster’s continuity.
With only three seniors graduating, the team returns nearly its entire lineup, giving the coaching staff a solid foundation as they look toward the upcoming season.
