A New Chapter for Rockridge Football
The Rockridge football program is entering a pivotal season, built around a core that returns five starters from a historically successful campaign and sets the stage for a campaign that could redefine expectations.
Head coach Sam Graves has repeatedly emphasized that cohesion and hard work are the foundations of the team's approach, insisting that the players' collective effort will be the engine that drives success on the field.
At the center of the offense is senior quarterback Cullen Schwigen, an All‑State selection who has committed to Western Illinois. Schwigen will not only command the huddle at quarterback but also line up as a linebacker, adding a versatile dimension to the roster.
Schwigen says the decision to stay at Rockridge was driven by more than just football. He cites the school's distinctive mix of athletic opportunity, academic support and personal development as a perfect fit for his goals both on and off the field.
The Rockets open the season with a home matchup against Kewanee this Friday, a game that will serve as the first test of a schedule that promises tough competition and a chance to showcase the team's chemistry.
Looking Ahead
With high expectations set by coaching staff and players alike, the upcoming weeks will reveal how quickly the Rockets can translate preseason optimism into on‑field results, and whether the blend of sport, study and personal growth can produce a championship-caliber team.
