Ron Snodgrass, a 26‑year veteran of Division I college football officiating, was named the national coordinator of officials on September 1, succeeding Steve Shaw, who held the position since 2020. His appointment marks the culmination of a career that blends on‑field expertise with scholarly insight.
Snodgrass brings a doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis from Missouri and more than four decades of experience in officiating, crew leadership and the training of new officials. He has overseen postseason assignments, including College Football Playoff games, and is recognized for his ability to manage high‑pressure situations.

Jon Steinbrecher, commissioner of the Mid‑American Conference, and Jim Phillips, Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner, praised Snodgrass’s credibility, his skill in developing officials and his capacity to navigate complex stakeholder communication. They emphasized that his leadership will help standardize officiating practices nationwide.
In his new role, Snodgrass plans to streamline officiating management across the sport, aiming to raise the standard of play‑calling and reduce variability that can affect game outcomes.
