A Hall of Fame Induction
Ron Vincent, a former University of Wisconsin men’s hockey standout, is slated to be inducted into the UW Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026, a recognition that reflects more than a decade of on‑ice excellence and off‑ice leadership.
From 1978 to 1982 Vincent wore the Badgers jersey in four seasons that combined skill, grit, and a deep sense of responsibility. His playmaking instincts made him a catalyst on the ice, while his willingness to mentor younger players earned him the respect of coaches and teammates alike.
Vincent’s collegiate career featured back‑to‑back NCAA championship appearances in 1981 and 1982, moments that cemented his place in the program’s storied history. He skated alongside future NHL talents such as Mark Johnson and Bob Suter, and his senior season culminated in being named co‑captain and earning the team’s Most Valuable Player award.
Beyond the scoresheet, Vincent’s leadership was defined by his ability to elevate those around him. Teammates recalled his calm demeanor in high‑pressure situations and his habit of staying late after practice to help younger players refine their techniques.
After his playing days, Vincent remained deeply involved with the Wisconsin hockey community. From 1996 to 2003 he served on the National W Club board, where he played a pivotal role in establishing an endowed scholarship that continues to provide financial support for aspiring Badgers.
The induction will be celebrated during a weekend of events in September 2026, bringing together alumni, current players, and fans to honor a legacy that has shaped the program for generations.
