Rowan County’s American Legion baseball squad has cemented a remarkable run, securing its sixteenth consecutive victory and improving to 18‑2 on the season.
The latest win came against Matthews, where 15‑year‑old pitcher Parker Durant delivered a two‑hitter, striking out nine and walking just one in a 6‑0 shutout.
Coach Seth Graham praised Durant’s composure and the effectiveness of his fastball‑changeup‑slider mix, noting that the youngster’s ability to command the zone was a key factor.
While the team’s top four hitters were held without a hit, contributions from players such as Drew Pegram and Kendal Sifford kept the offense rolling, culminating in Sifford’s three‑run homer in the seventh that doubled the lead to 6‑0.

Durant’s performance has put him on the radar of several scouts, and his upcoming starts will feature left‑handed Connor Park and Maddox Moore as the team’s next opening acts against Kannapolis.
