Rowan County Baseball Team Extends Winning Streak with 14-3 Victory Over Mocksville

Key performances from Dylan Alexander, Cole Blevins and others drive the offense in a five‑inning rout

Rowan County’s Legion baseball squad kept its winning streak alive with a 14‑3 victory over Mocksville in a five‑inning contest on Tuesday, improving to ten straight wins.

Offensive Surge

The offense exploded for ten hits and eleven walks, scoring at least three runs in each of the five innings they batted. Highlights included a two‑run single by Dylan Alexander that pushed the lead to 11‑0 in the third inning.

Cole Blevins was a catalyst, delivering a double, four runs scored and two stolen bases while also drawing three walks. His double sparked a four‑run third inning that put the game out of reach.

Cohen Benfield recorded his first American Legion run‑scoring single, and Luke Ponczka added a sacrifice fly along with a 2‑for‑2 performance. Brant Graham and Drew Pegram contributed RBI singles in the second inning, while Ponczka finished 2‑for‑2 with two RBIs.

Key Pitching Performances

Rising sophomore Parker Durant earned his first Legion win, working four innings without allowing a run before being relieved. The pitching staff limited Mocksville to just two runs over the final two innings.

Jonas Johnson’s two‑run homer in the fourth provided the only late spark for Mocksville, but the Rowan defense, anchored by catcher Brody Pope and backup catchers Gaige Scruggs and Abel Brown, held firm.

With the win, Rowan will travel to face the Queen City Mustangs on Wednesday, looking to extend its unbeaten run as the summer schedule continues.
