The End of a Streak
Rowan County entered their last regular‑season game riding a 21‑game winning streak, only to watch it dissolve in a 2‑1 loss to Union County on Friday night.
Cole Blevins was the bright spot for Rowan, delivering a 4‑for‑4 performance at the plate, but the team could not capitalize on his effort.
Offensively, the rest of the lineup struggled, combining for just two hits in twenty at‑bats, and the lone run for Rowan trickled in during the top of the fifth inning.
Union County answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, and starter Parker Durant kept the opposition scoreless for four innings before the bullpen surrendered the lead.
Playoffs on the Horizon
Rowan will open the postseason at home on July 6 against Mocksville, the second seed in the Northern Division, while Randolph County secured a first‑round bye.
The victory also placed Union County as the second seed in the playoff bracket, setting up a potentially competitive series as the tournament begins.
