Rowan University celebrated a double triumph as three of its men’s basketball standouts earned spots on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2025‑26 Honors Court, while the program as a whole garnered the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
Skip Burton, a senior pre‑business major, joined the elite list despite a season cut short by injury. Burton had previously appeared in 14 games during his junior year, starting twice and shooting 70.8 percent from the free‑throw line.
A Rising Star in the Making
Chris McCarron, a senior finance major, contributed to the team’s depth with three double‑digit scoring performances and 25 assists, averaging 4.3 points per game across 23 appearances.
Michael Pirone, a junior advertising major, emerged as a reliable scorer, reaching double figures eight times and averaging 7.5 points per game over 27 contests, having started eight of them.
The Profs’ collective effort was recognized with the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, which honors programs that maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Over 2,300 players nationwide earned Honors Court selections, and more than 400 institutions received the academic accolade for the 2025‑26 season.
Next season will bring a new chapter for the program as Rob DePersia returns to Rowan after seven years at the Division I level. DePersia, who was named the program’s 14th head coach in April, previously played a pivotal role in the team’s 2019 NJAC Championship run.
