A dominant performance
Rutgers field hockey posted its first road victory of the season, defeating Wagner 7‑1 in a commanding display that saw the Scarlet Knights outshot 18‑5 and dominate penalty corners 6‑4.
Olivia Fraticelli led the offense with a career‑high three goals, including a hat trick that put Rutgers ahead early in the first quarter and helped seal the win.
Laura Loycke, Frederique Vernooij, Julia Vinas Nieto and Olivia Stazi each added a goal, while Talia Schenck contributed two assists and Anna Cogdell, Sophie Kuiper and Eden Doucelin each supplied a helper.
Looking ahead
The Scarlet Knights, now 1‑1 after a season‑opening loss to Monmouth, face a gauntlet of top‑ranked opponents, with No. 5 Virginia awaiting on Friday and No. 9 Syracuse on Sunday in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
Rutgers will look to build on the win, having previously repeated a victory over Wagner from the year before and aiming to extend a schedule that includes five of the first six foes ranked in the top‑20.
