The Scarlet Knights enter the upcoming season with a completely overhauled lineup, bringing in seven freshmen and two transfer players to replace the single departure through the transfer portal. The move signals a decisive shift after a 2025 campaign that ended without an NCAA tournament berth and left the program searching for a new identity.
Headlining the incoming class is Lilia Calvert, a Pennsylvania native who erupted for 173 goals and 60 assists in high school and earned 2025 Pennsylvania Player of the Year honors. Joining her are forward Marian Dunne, a two‑time state champion from Oregon who was recognized as a United Soccer Coaches U17 All‑American, and defender Gesare Omwenga, who arrives from the nationally ranked NC Courage club.
The roster also adds depth with experienced goalkeeper Iris de Rouw from the Netherlands, who spent the previous season at St. John’s and represents Indonesia on the international stage, as well as midfielder Lily Ann Phillips, a transfer from Penn State who was a top‑100 prospect and ECNL All‑Conference honoree.
A Demanding Early Schedule
Rutgers will open the regular season with a grueling road trip that includes matches at Tennessee, UConn and Fairfield before returning home to face Boston College, Providence and Princeton. The non‑conference slate is designed to test the new chemistry and provide early insight into the team’s potential.
