A versatile arm for the Mountaineers' future
During his freshman year at Queens, Brown earned ASUN Preseason Freshman of the Year honors as a pitcher, posting a 5.61 earned‑run average and striking out 45 batters across 20 appearances, including seven starts. At the plate he batted .289 and contributed three doubles and three home runs, underscoring his dual‑role capabilities.
Brown's 2026 season was cut short by Tommy John surgery, sidelining him for the entire year. However, medical updates indicate a full recovery, and he is expected to be ready when the 2027 schedule begins, giving the Mountaineers a timely boost to their rotation.
His addition marks the seventh pitcher to commit to West Virginia this offseason and represents the fourth right‑handed arm recruited by head coach Steve Sabins, who sees Brown as a key piece in fortifying the staff for the upcoming campaign.
