Oregon’s baseball program announced a significant addition to its coaching staff this week, naming Ryan Fineman as its new recruiting coordinator and assistant coach. The move brings a proven recruiter with a track record of turning programs into contenders.
Fineman's Proven Track Record
Fineman arrives after two seasons at Troy, where he helped the Trojans post 78 victories and punch a ticket to the College World Series. Under his guidance, catcher Jimmy Janicki earned All‑America honors and was crowned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, while the team assembled a top‑20 transfer portal class nationally.
A Playing Pedigree and Professional Experience
Before entering coaching, Fineman honed his skills at Indiana University and later spent time in professional baseball with the Tampa Bay Rays. His journey also took him through stints at Old Dominion, Alabama, New Orleans and Chipola Junior College, where he consistently contributed to player development and on‑campus recruiting.
Coach Wasikowski's Praise
Head coach Mark Wasikowski lauded Fineman’s character, his extensive network, and his ability to attract talent. “Ryan’s connections and his knack for recruiting are exactly what we need as we aim to elevate our program,” Wasikowski said in the announcement.
Looking Ahead
The addition of Fineman signals Oregon’s intent to sharpen its recruiting pipeline and deepen player development. With his experience across multiple conferences and a history of producing All‑America talent, the Ducks hope to translate his success into future on‑field breakthroughs.
