Columbia State Community College has tapped Ryan Huber to lead its Chargers baseball program as the new head coach, a move that brings a blend of playing experience and coaching acumen to the dugout.
A Proven Track Record
Huber arrives after three seasons at Middle Tennessee State University, where he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, focusing on defensive development and first‑base duties.
Prior to his tenure at MTSU, he honed his skills at the University of Memphis, rotating through roles as assistant, infield coach and catching coach, and later contributed to the St. Louis Cardinals’ scouting department from 2017 to 2018.
His playing days spanned Freed‑Hardeman University and Bethel University, culminating in a 2015 bachelor’s degree in physical education, while his academic foundation was laid at Motlow State Community College, where he earned an associate of science in 2012.
Leadership and Expectations
The Chargers’ most recent campaign was a strong one, finishing 33‑19 overall and securing second place in the TCCAA Region 7 Tournament, a performance that sets a high bar for the upcoming season.
Athletic director Katie Willingham praised Huber’s blend of experience and his deep connections to alumni, noting that his leadership is expected to elevate both on‑field results and off‑field development of student‑athletes.
