Webber International University announced today that Ryan Kardok will take the reins of its men’s basketball program as head coach, ushering in a new chapter for the Sun Conference school.
A Strategic Hire for a Growing Program
Kardok arrives after a distinguished tenure as assistant coach at Florida Southern College, where he helped guide the team to three straight 20‑win seasons and three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths.
During his time at Florida Southern, the program captured three Sunshine State Conference titles, reached the Division II Sweet Sixteen and the Round of 32, and consistently ranked among the nation’s top ten offenses.
His coaching journey also includes stints at the University of South Florida, James Madison University, Bowling Green State University and the University of Miami, where he worked under Naismith Coach of the Year Jim Larrañaga.
A former collegiate player at USF, Kardok holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of South Florida and a master’s in Liberal Studies from the University of Miami.
Leadership Looks to the Future
In a statement, President Dr. Nelson Marquez, Athletic Director Brad Niethammer and Dr. Elfie Farchmin expressed confidence that Kardok’s experience and leadership will elevate the program both on and off the court.
Kardok said he is eager to invest in student‑athletes and build a culture of excellence, citing the university’s mission as a guiding principle.
The university community anticipates that Kardok’s blend of Division I and II expertise will translate into competitive performances and academic success for the Wildcats.
