Ryan Lafferty, the 2023‑24 Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association 3A player of the year and Greater Spokane League MVP, has announced his transfer to the University of Idaho in Moscow.
His freshman season at St. Thomas was cut short by an ankle injury, limiting him to just 11 of 21 games, and he is now seeking a fresh start with the Vandals.
Lafferty has praised the close‑knit community and the rigorous training environment in Moscow, saying the supportive atmosphere has already begun to shape his daily routine.
A Fresh Start in Moscow
Coach Alex Pribble recruited the former Wildcats star, while Stephen Madison, a University of Idaho alumnus, has been guiding his development both on and off the court.
The Vandals enter the upcoming season with only four players returning from last year’s Big Sky tournament championship squad, making Lafferty’s addition a significant boost.
Among the newcomers are Will Jenson, Miles Klapper, Seth Joba, and Kristian Gonzalez, who join a roster that already features a tight culture among the returning veterans.
Daily Regimen and Team Culture
Lafferty’s typical day now includes rehabilitation sessions, team meetings, film study, and multiple workouts, reflecting the disciplined schedule imposed by the program.
Beyond personal growth, he is eyeing a potential matchup against his childhood favorite team, Gonzaga, and hopes to contribute to the Vandals’ push for another deep tournament run.
