A Perfect Season
The Rye football squad capped the 2025 campaign with a flawless 14‑0 record, culminating in a 28‑14 victory over Brighton in the Class A championship game. The win secured the team’s fifth state title and underscored its dominance across the league.
Building on that momentum, the team has mapped out a challenging 2026 schedule that includes matchups against Cornwall Central, Clarkstown South, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Somers, Nyack, Harrison, and Clarkstown North. Each opponent presents a new test as Rye looks to translate its regular‑season success into another championship run.
However, the road ahead will be shaped by departures that matter. Carson Miller and Henry Shoemaker, two pivotal offensive contributors, have each chosen to attend Harvard University, leaving sizable shoes to fill.
The loss of Miller and Shoemaker is expected to test the team’s depth, but coaches remain confident that the experience gained from the previous season will help younger players step up.
Rye’s last back‑to‑back title stretch dates back to 2007 and 2008, a benchmark the program hopes to revisit. A rematch with Somers, the team that fell 40‑17 in the 2025 Section I Class A final, looms as a potential turning point.
Somers, which captured three straight Class A crowns from 2022 through 2024, now stands as a formidable rival, and the upcoming clash promises fireworks.
Despite the departures, the team’s 2025 performance showed that it can outscore every opponent by wide margins, a trend the coaching staff believes will continue if the new roster gels quickly.
