A Rising Star in the Secondary
Washington Huskies sophomore safety Rylon Dillard-Allen is expected to start in his second year after an impressive freshman season that saw him earn Freshman All-America honors.
During his rookie campaign he appeared in all 13 games, recording 40 tackles, two tackles for loss, and delivering a standout performance against the No. 6 Oregon Ducks with 11 solo stops.
Coach Taylor Mays, who oversees the Huskies’ safeties, praised Dillard-Allen’s natural talent while emphasizing that the next step is professional development — mastering preparation, studying opponents and elevating his leadership on and off the field.
Mays noted that the young safety will line up alongside All-Big Ten honorable mention Alex McLaughlin, forming a promising partnership that could reshape the secondary’s dynamics.
Beyond raw statistics, Dillard-Allen has set personal goals to improve his communication and command of the defense, aiming to become a vocal leader as the team looks to build on its recent momentum.
