Sabres Secure Long-Term Commitment with Beck Malenstyn
The Buffalo Sabres announced a six-year, $17.5 million agreement with forward Beck Malenstyn, a contract that more than doubles his previous earnings and locks the 28-year-old into the franchise through the next half-decade.
Malenstyn’s new average annual salary of roughly $2.9 million eclipses the $1.35 million he earned in his final season with Washington, underscoring the value the Sabres place on his physical brand of play.
A Physical Presence That Defines a New Era
Last season he set a Sabres record with 282 hits, ranked second on the team with 75 blocked shots and contributed a career-high seven goals, helping the club to a 14-point improvement.
The trade that brought him from the Washington Capitals in 2024 involved a second-round draft pick moving the other way, a modest price for a player who has already become a fan favourite for his relentless forechecking.
The front office framed the agreement as a clear signal that the Sabres are committed to blending skill with grit as they aim to return to playoff contention.
Looking Ahead to a More Competitive Roster
With the contract in place, the Sabres can project a lineup that combines youthful speed with seasoned toughness, a combination that could push them back into the Eastern Conference’s upper tier.
