Sachem East’s flag football team secured a 13‑6 victory over Northport in the Suffolk Class A semifinal, a contest that hinged on the second‑half surge of sophomore Sofia Larrea and senior Aubree Ellis, each finding the end zone twice.
Coach Gregory Bosch, who has guided the team through a demanding schedule, said the win was a testament to the squad’s preparation and resilience, noting that the defense held Northport to just six points despite a late rally.
The roster also features Lyla Quinn, Kacey Berger, Samantha Heyman, Ella Candel and Vinte’ya Rountree, who have provided depth and support throughout the campaign.
Semifinal Showdown
Half Hollow Hills advanced to the championship game with a 19‑12 win over William Floyd, a battle marked by senior Emma Wilck’s two interceptions, one of which was returned 50 yards for a pick‑six that shifted momentum.
Coach Mike Lupa praised Wilck’s playmaking ability, calling the interceptions “game‑changing” and emphasizing the team’s focus on executing their game plan in the final.
