A Recruiting Surge
Sacramento State women's basketball coach Aaron Kallhoff announced the commitments of seven standout student‑athletes for the 2026‑27 campaign, a class that immediately places the Hornets among the nation’s most promising mid‑major programs.
The group, ranked in the top ten of mid‑major recruiting lists by On3.com, features six Division I transfers and a true freshman, signaling a blend of experience and fresh talent.
Among the transfers are Koko Akridge and Jenessa Cotton, both returning to California, while Jelena Savic arrives from Melbourne, Australia, bringing an international perspective to the roster.
Achol Magot will join her cousin, current Hornet Ajong Lual, adding a familial connection that could strengthen team chemistry.
The incoming class also includes Alexis Hess, Brooklyn Charlo, and Jordan Barlow, each bringing distinct skill sets from conferences such as the Big 12, Missouri Valley, The American and the Northeast Conference.
Building on Recent Momentum
Coach Kallhoff emphasized that the new signees are expected to complement the Hornets’ recent on‑court achievements, including a 15‑win 2025‑26 season that matched the previous year’s total.
That season marked the first back‑to‑back 15‑win campaigns for Sacramento State in a decade, a milestone that underscores the program’s upward trajectory.
After 30 years in the Big Sky Conference, the university is transitioning to the Big West, a move that promises new rivalries and heightened visibility.
With the coaching staff, the athletic department, and the broader campus community poised to embrace this momentum, the Hornets look to build on a foundation of sustained success.
