The Saddleback women's flag football team entered its maiden season with modest expectations, but a 14‑1 start has quickly rewritten the narrative around the program.
Preseason Dominance
The Bobcats opened their preseason in January with back‑to‑back wins over Redlands University and Hope International University, marking the first official flag football game ever played by a California community college. They soon captured their first tournament title, edging Cypress in triple overtime, and then swept the Miracosta Mini Tournament with victories against El Camino, Miracosta and East Los Angeles. To date, the team has recorded six shutouts and eight games in which they have built leads of more than 20 points, while remaining unbeaten at home and sitting 1‑1 in conference play.
Looking Ahead
Their next test arrives on April 9, when they travel to face Cypress again. The upcoming matchup offers another chance to gauge the squad’s progress as they prepare for the rigors of a full schedule. Coach and players alike credit the early success to relentless work ethic and a collective belief that the team is ready for the challenges ahead.
