The Saginaw Spirit announced a series of coaching and staff changes for the upcoming 2026‑27 Ontario Hockey League season, highlighting both fresh faces and familiar veterans.
Expanded Roles for Posa and Augustinus
Saverio Posa, who completed his first season as an assistant coach, will now oversee the penalty kill and work directly with the team's defence, building on his OHL playing background with the Windsor Spitfires and Guelph Storm.
Aron Augustitus, a five‑year NHL video coach with the Columbus Blue Jackets, joins the Spirit to focus on the forwards, bringing a deep analytical background from his time in Columbus.
Scouting and Development Additions
Josh Romano has been added to the scouting staff, tasked with covering the Eastern United States, where he previously scouted for the Niagara IceDogs and OHL Central Scouting.
Returning Veteran Staff
Kevin Delamarter returns as the goaltending coach for his third season, while Austin Sadler continues as Director of Strength & Conditioning for his fifth year.
Athletic therapist Andrew Plate rejoins the club for his eighth season, and Aden Gohm, a Saginaw native, remains the Head Equipment Manager for his second year.
Season Opener
The new coaching roster will make its debut when the Spirit open the season on September 18 against the Soo Greyhounds, a matchup that promises to showcase the team's enhanced development pipeline.
