Saint Francis University recently welcomed a dozen new members into its Hall of Fame, a tribute that intertwines athletic triumph with personal dedication.
The ceremony, held on a crisp evening, featured heartfelt speeches from the inductees, each reflecting on the mentors, teammates, and experiences that shaped their journeys.
A Legacy of Excellence
Among the honorees, Bill Coyle is remembered for guiding the 1966‑67 basketball team to a 20‑6 record and finishing his career with 1,097 points, a milestone that still stands as a benchmark for future players. Kevin Doyle and Matt Hartman broke cross‑country and track records despite training without a dedicated track, while Anna Hoffman, a 2010 graduate, now conquers ultramarathon trails, crediting her college years for her resilience.
Pat Gallagher built a swimming dynasty, capturing four consecutive NEC titles from 2010 to 2013, and Elise Lofgren, an international swimmer from Sweden, set records that remain unchallenged. Tesa McKibben led the women’s soccer program to four NEC championship games, winning two, and often cites her coach’s standards as a guiding principle beyond the field.
Alli Williams joins an elite group as one of only four women’s basketball players to surpass 2,000 points, while Kyle Harbridge became the program’s all‑time rushing leader after revitalizing the football team. Jordan Varee remains the all‑time leader in kills, attacks and aces for Saint Francis volleyball and continues to compete professionally, and Joe Schoen dominated the paint, ranking among the nation’s top rebounders at two points in his career.
Darshan Luckey scored 1,699 points in just three seasons and is celebrated for an unstoppable work ethic that inspired teammates and fans alike.
The ceremony also honored two historic teams, including the unbeaten 2003‑04 women’s basketball squad that finished 25‑6 overall and the group of students who founded the football program in 1969, whose early efforts laid the groundwork for future success.
A Lasting Impact
Inductees repeatedly emphasized hard work, teamwork and the unwavering support of coaches and faculty, messages that echo through the university’s athletic culture.
As the new class settles into the Hall of Fame, their stories continue to inspire current student‑athletes, reminding them that excellence is built on dedication, community and the courage to push boundaries.
