New Additions to the Coaching Staff
Saint Francis University’s men’s basketball program is set to welcome two new assistants as head coach Luke McConnell unveiled Nathan Cullo and Daunte Wilcott for the 2026‑27 season. The announcements were made public on August 28, highlighting the duo’s complementary experience and shared commitment to player development.
Cullo, who spent the last three years at PennWest Edinboro, brings a proven track record of turning the Fighting Scots into back‑to‑back PSAC playoff contenders. At Edinboro he recruited five All‑Conference athletes and helped orchestrate a resurgence that culminated in consecutive postseason appearances. Prior to his coaching stint, he starred at Vincentian Academy in Pittsburgh, surpassing 1,000 career points and leading his high school to two WPIAL titles and a PIAA runner‑up finish.
Wilcott arrives after a distinguished playing career at Medaille College, where he earned Third Team All‑Conference honors and amassed more than 1,000 points. He transitioned into coaching as a volunteer assistant at both Medaille and PennWest Edinboro, earning a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management while continuing to contribute on the bench. His blend of playing experience and coaching acumen positions him as a valuable mentor for the Red Wolves’ roster.
McConnell emphasized character as a cornerstone of the new staff, noting that both Cullo and Wilcott exemplify the work ethic and integrity he seeks in his program. Their arrivals signal a strategic push to deepen the team’s recruiting reach and reinforce developmental pathways for student‑athletes.
The Red Wolves will open the 2026‑27 campaign on November 6 with a home matchup against Susquehanna University. The game marks the first opportunity for fans to see Cullo and Wilcott in action as they integrate into the coaching dynamic.
Athletic director Brian Kelly expressed confidence that the new assistants will bolster the program’s competitiveness and academic mission. He highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering talent both on and off the court, a philosophy that aligns with the incoming staff’s backgrounds.
