Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine, has been honored with the 2025‑26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, a distinction that highlights the program’s commitment to scholarly achievement as well as athletic competitiveness.
Academic Excellence Meets Athletic Success
The award, presented by Sports Attack, is granted to collegiate baseball programs that post a cumulative team grade point average of at least 3.0, and the Monks exceeded that benchmark with a 3.22 average for the 2025‑26 academic year. In addition, 24 players maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the spring semester, while 14 earned a 3.50 or above.
Under the guidance of co‑head coaches Will Sanborn and Lincoln Sanborn, the team compiled a 34‑13 overall record and a 14‑6 mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, finishing as conference runners‑up. The Monks also logged a program‑second‑high 47 games played, reaching the GNAC Championship Series after a dominant run in the Pod B Tournament.
The Monks won four of five games in the GNAC Pod B Tournament to advance to the championship series, capping a season that included a second‑high 47-game schedule and a final conference runner‑up finish.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student‑athletes, and its awards program includes the ABCA/Rawlings All‑America Teams, regional and national coach of the year honors, and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
Saint Joseph's College joins a select group of institutions that blend rigorous academics with competitive baseball, setting a model for future programs.
