The fifth annual youth football Gorilla Wideouts Camp took place on July 11 at Millard South High School in Omaha, Nebraska, drawing a crowd of young athletes eager to learn from professionals.
The event is organized by New Orleans Saints wide receivers coach Keith Williams, who previously served as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska from 2015 to 2017, building strong ties across the state.
Williams, a Nebraska native, says the camp is as much about community service as it is about skill development, and he enjoys reconnecting with friends he made in Omaha and Lincoln over the years.
A Camp With a Purpose
This year, Williams brought several Saints players, including former Nebraska standout Trey Palmer, who set the program’s single‑season receiving yards record with 1,043 yards in 2022.
Palmer, who signed with the Saints in August 2025 after being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, missed the entire 2025 regular season due to an ankle injury but has now returned to full health.
At the camp, Palmer expressed how meaningful it was to return to his home state and give back to the community that helped shape his career.
Alongside Palmer, former Iowa cornerback TJ Hall and fourth‑round draft pick Bryce Lance also attended, offering drills and mentorship to the campers.
Saints coach Keith Williams highlighted that Palmer’s experience and resilience have made him a valuable addition to the team’s receiver room, reinforcing the club’s depth as they look ahead to the next season.
The camp not only showcases the talent of NFL players but also underscores the strong connections between professional football and the grassroots development of the sport in the Midwest.
